Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born in Frankfurt in 1749. He was the first child of Johann Caspar Goethe, a lawyer, and Katherine Elisabeth Textor, daughter of Frankfurt’s mayor. Johann received his broad education from home due to some problems at school.
